Clearly so many users are severely unhappy with all the recent “updates” which have done nothing but move a lot of useful features behind a paywall that’s obscenely expensive. If not the delusionally high subscription fee, the ads are laughably insane. Seriously what in the world do you and your developers have in mind? Who are you really developing this app for? (Bring cruising back!)

Knowing how many times someone looks at your profile was a REAL nice touch. Sometimes I just refresh my page to see the number go up. LOL. But is 3 the max?

With Grindr heavily promoting use and sale of 💎Crystal Meth… How is Grindr legally able to host Sex Workers, Drug dealers and fraudulently use an abundance of Fake profiles to lure users into paid subscription ? Reporting profiles gets automatically dismissed. Blocked profiles just reappears upon reopening the App. This is surely not a safe place for our community or for anyone looking to meet great people.

I’ve used Grindr on and off for over a decade and as the years have gone on they have become more and more greedy. Unless you want to pay an arm and a leg for a ANOTHER stupid subscription you’re left being bombarded by excessively long ads which also causes the app to glitch at times. Be careful where you click on the app or you might be directed to a completely different website or the App Store. I live in a smaller city where it can be hard at times to meet guys since the community is so small. It adds insult to injury when I go to click on someone and I’m required to pay for “Grindr Xtra” just to see if we have anything in common. I thought the purpose of these apps were to help connect queer people not profit off of their sexuality? It’s predatory and a massive slap in the face. -10/10, do better.

Honestly, everything being behind a pay wall is ridiculous. If I pay for unlimited, I should be able to use every feature. You can’t even travel on the app now without paying. It used to be fun. Now it’s just garbage. I’m done with it.

Grindr is a complete worthless app. The fact that the only focus is how many ways can Grindr place advertisements within their app. Every part of Grindr is littered with advertisements. You can’t open a profile without seeing an advertisement, open a message without seeing an advertisement. The messages sections displays 3-5 advertisements. The profile grid is also littered with advertisements. Grindr is also making their free version more restrictive than before. You can no longer see who viewed you or sent a tap without upgrading to their unlimited subscription. Using filters only allow free users to view 3 profiles. There truly is no point of using Grindr unless you’re paying per month, which isn’t worth it. Grindr doesn’t even deserve the 1 star it’s given. A total useless app that needs to be banned & investigated by the Better Business Bureau.

The number of ads on this platform is absolutely horrendous. You can’t make a single click without getting a pop up ad which makes the app nearly unusable.

This app has really gone bad. Constant invasive advertising. Most features require subscription. Subscription fees are insane, because there are Tons of fake profiles. Grindr has blurred the people tapping. Everything is worse than ever before. Bring back Grindr as it was in 2015 when it was at it’s peak. As it is, This app needs to be shut down.

This app is fantastic for killing time. It’s user friendly and honestly is pretty awesome!

Taps - Turning something that was once a free and lighthearted way to connect into a paywalled feature kinda kills the vibe. It’s like they’re putting a price tag on basic interaction. Lame

I officially hate this glitching app. For something that owns go-to status in the gay community for so long, can’t the developers fix this bug? Disappearing chats are really annoying, especially when chats randomly disappear when someone shows slight interest in me. Chats have suddenly disappeared from my inbox three times in the last month. Also gone are the Interested party’s profile, just when they begin to get serious (one is one his way to a meet-up) so this is not a “he-blocked-you” situation. How can this keep happening? What kind of a bug is this that it can’t be fixed? So frustrating. More frustrating is that there isn’t really a competitor app that can replace Grindr right away. Probably that’s why made the company so arrogant and indifferent to ignore this issue users have long complained about.

You need to pay to see you taps, that makes taps virutally unsuable to all free users. Bye.

Limited range to see anyone and overall just garbage experience has made this a backup to adam4adam. I’ll be looking elsewhere after they pretty much made this useless. Update: you now can’t see taps. So officially, adam4adam and jackd is better than Grindr.

Likes or taps are hidden now. You can no longer block people freely… again. Ads are so invasive and relentless. You can't even open the app without an ad immediately popping up and then continuing to pop up, especially when opening or starting a conversation with someone. This app has become notorious not only for being a tremendously welcoming, safe space but also for having a nearly unusable interface unless you pay for an unreasonably expensive subscription.

Do not even think about wasting your time considering this total garbage, I can’t even believe they allow it on the App Store. If you want to completely destroy your device with malware adware and viruses Grindr is the app to download for sure.

A no block feature is crazy... I shouldn't need a reason through chat to block someone.

Three separate ad windows must be closed—one after the other—just to return to the app. It’s a frustrating, degrading experience that feels more like a trap than a tool for connection. Glitches and Broken Features Messages fail to send despite full signal. Photos vanish from chats. Notifications are inconsistent. The app crashes, freezes, and stalls. For many, Grindr is now more error message than messenger. A Growing Safety Risk Fake profiles and catfish scams run rampant. In some places, users have been lured into dangerous situations, even assaulted. Grindr’s safety measures are minimal at best, leaving users vulnerable in a space meant to connect them. Privacy? What Privacy? There have been credible reports of Grindr sharing sensitive user information—including HIV status—with third parties. It’s a violation of trust and a dangerous betrayal for a community that deserves better. The Bottom Line What was once a space for love, lust, and laughter is now a cautionary tale. Grindr has become a hollow shell—full of ads, bugs, and broken promises. A relic, crumbling under the weight of its own neglect.

So many bugs. Notifications don’t work. Ads when you’ve paid for a subscription. Lost messages. Click on a profile and it brings up mpox ads then the profile vanishes. Now you login and wait for the app to crash.

Since Grindr has gone public and they need to keep increasing profits. This app is just a 1 second delay for ads to pop up where they know you will click. I’ve cut down my usage on here drastically due to the aggregation. Plus Sniffies is so much cheaper for a better experience. Sniffies is the new Grindr. Days away from deleting this as Sniffies has an app now.

This is NOT a gay app anymore. Ads aside, hides/blocks simply don’t work. Users reappear after reopening the app. Not to mention that “hide” option is a scam: it hides the profile, but still counts it as one of the profiles on the grid. Lots of scam bots. Some are sending some trashy link, while others are simulating chat. There’s a limit to the users that you can see, which is stuffed with random users that are 10-60mi away and they take the slot from the actual people nearby. But at the end of the day, if you’re a gay man, then this app is not for you anymore.

The app has been updated to be completely poor un user experience. The constant ads and extremely unaffordable paywall prices have become cumbersome and aggravating as a user. The company needs to redefine their goals to refocus on being user friendly.

They’re basically just making the free version as miserable of an experience as possible to get you to pay a stupid amount of money for the premium version.

It’s getting to the point where u have to pay for basically everything… the grid keeps getting smaller, you have to pay to view taps, and to make it worse there’s so… many… ads… like after you open any conversation or send a message there’s going to be an ad. I also couldn’t get back into my account and it wouldn’t send the password reset link to my email or to my phone number so I had to make a whole new account. The app isn’t good for your mental health anyway, but even if I just want a little entertainment it’s becoming not worth it 🤷🏾

Did you know if you pay for premium you won’t see ads? I know because ads by Grindr pop up reminding me this every single minute! Anytime you want to read a message, gotta watch an ad first. It looks like you have a new message, but wait, no, it’s just 3 more ads from Grindr. You can delete them, but they reappear 20 seconds later. Cute guy looks at you? Gotta pay if you want to chat. It’s like Costco, you can look but without a paid membership you’re not gonna get any…

Too many long ads that won’t close out, can’t tap and can’t contact many people, premium memberships are way overpriced and if you do manage to connect with someone, there’s no guarantee they’ll be able to respond. No wonder so many people are going elsewhere.

You can’t do anything without an ad popping up! So frustrating!

Latest failures: 1) I send a pic and it hangs till I force stop it, restart it and can then send an accompanying message. Happens Incessantly. 2) When I view my (now unsearchable) Favorites, none have thumbnails! All are blank. Grindr fails at basic programming. They have no idea what regression testing is. They make an “improvement” (e.g., putting the Favorites tab behind the Unlimited paywall) and not only take a feature away but break something that’s worked for years. I admit I still use this piece of garbage because it’s where all the gay boys are. I look forward to when everyone abandons this foundering ship for a viable alternative.

This app has started to become trash!! All of the features that used to be free are now being charged to use them. It’s ridiculous!

This app used to be useful. But now there are so many ads I literally can’t even open the app. It’s useless. This app has gone down hill fast, everyone needs to switch to sniffies

The amount of advertisements make this app not enjoyable. I have since switched to another app maybe everyone should do the same considering it’s almost not enjoyable anymore. All you care about is money now this app was much better in 2014-2016.

Grindr just isn't worth the expense. It's disappointing, and I really think the app could improve.
